Update from West Midlands regional team on NHS 111
Following the ammouncement that NHS Direct are to withdraw from the NHS111 contract, we wanted to advise you that we have firm plans in place for the future of NHS111 within the West Midlands region.
The Secretary of State's comments on out of hours care are grossly unfair and misguided, and will be met with disbelief from millions of patients who have been well served by our services over the last decade.
Out of hours organisations deal with about 8 million calls each year, care is very accessible, and includes good services to patients with long term conditions and the seriously ill.

Review of NHS helpline after 'chaotic' service
An "urgent" review of the NHS helpline in England will be carried out, after allegations that its service has been "chaotic" in some areas.
County pulls the plug on 111 NHS service
A NATIONWIDE out-of-hours medical helpline will not be rolled out in Shropshire for at least 18 months, an Oswestry doctor has revealed.
"Shropdoc services are provided by local GP's - and always have been since 1996".
Shropdoc and the West Midlands Ambulance service are working together to reduce A & E admissions.

Doctors in Shropshire have been forced to step in and bail out the Governments fledgling NHS 111 Advice line, which is failing to cope with the volume of calls from patients.
On the 19th March 2013 the way in which you contact Shropdoc when your surgery is closed will change.
CFEP - Client Focused Evaluation Program
CFEP is an external organisation Shropdoc uses to compile quarterly survey reports looking at our 3 OOHs areas; Telephone Advice, Home Visits, Treatment Centre. Approximately 1% of our patients are sent questionnaires within a few weeks of their contact with our service.
